Supporting Salmon-Safe certification
This letter was provided to the Stewardship Partners to help them promote their Salmon Safe program.

To Whom It May Concern:
Please accept this letter as a statement of support for Stewardship Partners’ Salmon-Safe certification and labeling program for fish-friendly farming practices. The Salmon Safe program is an effective way to help save native northwest salmon and we’re excited about participating as a retail partner.
PCC Natural Markets is the nation’s largest consumer-owned natural foods retailer in the United States with nearly 40,000 member/owners and seven stores. PCC is committed to supporting local, sustainable agriculture and educating consumers about important issues related to food production. One of the most pressing environmental concerns here is the precipitous decline in native salmon runs. The Salmon-Safe program recognizes farmers who use salmon-friendly farming methods, making them stand out to consumers. It also helps consumers perceive the connection between land-based farming and sustainable seafood, including our own sustainable seafood program.
PCC is glad to support products from certified Salmon-Safe farms, labeling these products in our store, and educating consumers through in-store materials, our monthly paper, and website. The program is consistent with our mission to support earth-friendly and sustainable food production. It offers farmers a value-added product, while helping salmon recovery and the environment as a whole.
Feel free to call me with any questions about PCC’s commitment to this program.
Sincerely,
Trudy Bialic
