News Brief: PCC Community Markets Announces Grocery Rescue Partners for Downtown Store

Opening Day Ceremony to Include Local Artist and Downtown Seattle Association
January 18, 2022: In advance of PCC opening its Downtown location, the co-op is confirming its Grocery Rescue Program partners for the store:
- Chief Seattle Club
- James Street | Downtown Emergency Service Center: Housing & Health to End Homelessness in Seattle
- Operation Sack Lunch
- Polack Food Bank – Jewish Family Service
Through PCC’s Grocery Rescue Program, thousands of pounds of high-quality food — including organic, local produce and free-range meats to grass-fed dairy and made-from-scratch deli items — are donated directly from the co-op’s 16 locations. PCC partners with just under 50 hunger-relief organizations through this program, with donations occurring daily from each store. In 2020, PCC contributing 1.4 million meals to its neighbors through this program.
The Downtown PCC will welcome shoppers and its Grocery Rescue Partners starting Wednesday, January 19. The co-op will host a brief ceremony at 9am near its entrance on 4th Avenue (store address is 1320 4th Ave.) featuring brief remarks from PCC leadership, artist Andrea M. Wilbur-Sigo and Jon Scholes, President of the Downtown Seattle Association.
