Sustainability

I was very pleased to see the article in Sound Consumer (May issue), “PCC vendors make a difference through alternative energy profiles.” I was disheartened though that more of PCC’s vendors that purchase Green Power, such as Choice Organic Teas, were not included. Many natural product companies, (many of them) PCC vendors, were highlighted in a news release this spring by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power Partnership at the Anaheim Natural Foods Expo.

Editor: Thank you, Nancy, for keeping me on my toes! I simply had not heard before that your company, Granum Inc., has been choosing to purchase green power. You deserve to be honored and credited for that effort in community sustainability. The news release referred to honors additional PCC vendors using green power, including Clif Bar, Recycline (the “Preserve” toothbrush), Lundberg Family Farms (rice), Fetzer Vineyards, Domaine Carneros (vineyard) and New Belgium Brewing Company (beer). The May sustainability profile covered efforts by Kettle Foods (snack foods), Traditional Medicinals (tea) and White Wave (soy beverages).

PCC in California?

I’m a Californian who through business travel had the awesome experience of visiting your PCC store in Issaquah. I truly have never experienced such a balanced health and organic food, accessories and more store. I picked up a brochure on PCC, and visited your Web site to learn more — all in an effort to satisfy my desire to figure out how PCC can expand into California, namely Redding, Calif. where I live with my family. Redding now has a population of 170,000 people, and thousands are moving here each year with hopes of a better life and a better place to raise their children.

My reason for writing is twofold: 1) I think PCC is a fantastic store, one that I’ve been searching for to satisfy my needs for organic foods for myself and family, and 2) I’d like to propose that PCC expand into a test market, here. I am willing to work with you in any way to bring PCC here.
