A message from your board
PCC annual election — your cooperation makes it happen
Voting in our board election is an annual celebration of your member-ownership of PCC. Our 47,000+ members participate in the running of our co-op in a number of ways, including sustaining our local food system, voicing support for social ventures in our stores and communities, and helping educate our public on dietary and environmental issues.
The board you elect reviews and revises the policies that shape the scope and direction of the benefits PCC provides through our stores and beyond.
This year’s candidates offer PCC a wide range of education and experience. They are offering their time and talents to help us continue to achieve positive results in pursuit of our triple-bottom line of social, financial and environmental success and sustainability.
Please share your time as well by reading the campaign literature and casting your vote in the 2012 PCC board election.

VOTE NOW — You’re electing three board members and a new nominating committee.
All of the campaign material is available online.
The special election insert inside this issue of your home-delivered Sound Consumer contains your ballot, as well as biographical information and campaign statements from each candidate, and a candidate Q&A designed to prepare you for your voting decisions. The insert also gives you a bit of background on the six trustees who the new board members will be joining.
Look also for information on the 2012-2013 nominating committee candidates. They are Janet Hietter, Tom Monahan, Mary Simon and Julie Tempest.
Again this year, you’ll be able to see and hear the candidates talk about why they’re running. Our website features short video interviews with each candidate.
Watch and listen to them briefly answer these questions:

Board report
The board met on March 27 and heard a report from PCC’s independent auditor on the 2012 financial audit, which shows the co-op in strong financial health. The finance committee reported its positive findings on the audit process. The annual report with 2011 financials is available now on our website and in our stores. The board also discussed plans for the annual meeting.
Management presented monitoring reports on 2011 operations toward achievement of PCC’s Ends policies. Excerpts of the reports will be published on our website in July and in the August Sound Consumer.
The next regularly scheduled board meeting will be Tuesday, May 29, at 5 p.m. at the co-op office. Member comment period is at 7 p.m.
