Reducing Washington’s Greenhouse Gas Emissions

PCC submitted a letter to the Washington State Environment and Energy Committee on January 31, 2019 to express our support for HB 1113, an act to amend the state greenhouse gas emission limits.

HB 1113 would bring Washington State’s goals for reducing emissions in line with the most current climate science and would maintain our commitment to the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement.

This bill would set state greenhouse gas emissions targets to 19 percent below 1990 levels by 2025, with additional reduction targets increasing over the years until 2050. It would direct the Department of Ecology to expand the scope of reporting on greenhouse gas emissions to include the impacts from wildfires, a growing problem in the region exacerbated by climate change.

Supporting meaningful legislation to address climate change is a top priority for PCC and we have set a number of ambitious goals to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions as we grow. We believe that others in Washington State can do the same.
