Redmond PCC celebrates its fifth anniversary
2011 News
(Seattle, Wash., May 20, 2011) – PCC Natural Markets (PCC) will celebrate the fifth anniversary of its Redmond store on Saturday, June 11 from 1 to 4 p.m. Festivities will include cake, free samples, taste-tests for children at the PCC Kid Picks Mobile and great specials on products throughout the store.
The Redmond PCC will also host a special barbeque, offering freshly grilled chicken with quinoa tabouli and PCC’s Emerald City Salad for just $5. All of the proceeds from the meals will benefit Redmond Hopelink Food Bank. “The Redmond PCC and the rest of the PCC organization have been so supportive of Hopelink and the work we do to help hungry people in our community,” said Scott Milne, Hopelink Redmond’s Food Program Manager. “PCC fundraisers, such as Grillin’ and Chillin’; the 5-year anniversary celebration barbeque; the year-round PCC Food Bank Program and the weekly store donations have been amazing and so helpful to our food bank clients.”
The Redmond PCC opened in the Spring of 2006, offering Redmond area shoppers a wide selection of organic and natural products in one of the “greenest” structures in King County. Building features that maximize energy efficiency and minimize waste, garnered the store LEED© Gold certification, by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The Redmond PCC was the first grocery store anywhere to achieve LEED Gold certification.
According to Lori Ross, PCC’s director of store development, “We incorporated as many environmentally-friendly features as possible in the construction and operation of our Redmond store. We considered them long-term investments in the future of PCC and the communities we serve.”
