Join us for this fun series running through April. PCC will be in attendance to help kids put together cool, take-home treats. Kindiependent is “Seattle’s independent kids and family music scene” and features some of the best local children’s entertainment groups.     Keeth and Nala bring harmonies and dance for a gentle, kid-focused morning of songs with lots of flair. Proceeds support Clean Greens, a nonprofit in Seattle’s Central District that’s “committed to growing and delivering clean and healthy produce” (cleangreensfarm.com).


Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive

January 9 to February 12

Carry on Fred Rogers’ giving spirit and help those in need by donating new or gently used clean sweaters, coats and cold weather gear. Collection bins will be located at all PCC store locations and KCTS 9. Donations will be distributed to Wellspring Family Services and Northwest Center, serving Seattle and King County.


Burke Museum presents “Hungry Planet”

PCC is partnering with the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture to present “Hungry Planet: What the World Eats.” Hungry Planet examines how people from different countries and cultures feed their families, through photographs of 10 families from around the world at home, at the market, and surrounded by a week’s worth of groceries.

The exhibit also features “Salish Bounty: Traditional Native American Foods of Puget Sound,” which explores 5,000 years of traditional tribal diets, as well as the revitalization of native food traditions.

PCC members (kids 5 and older and adults) will receive 50 percent off the regular $10 entrance to the exhibit; it’s free for kids 4 and under.

PCC Cooks instructors will be there throughout the exhibit for cooking demonstrations. All cooking demonstrations are at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and last about 40 minutes.

Valentine’s Day Dash

    PCC is the official fruit sponsor of this Valentine’s Day fun run at Green Lake. Visit our booth to pick up an organic apple or banana for some nourishment prior to, or for replenishment after, the race. Registration includes a long-sleeve t-shirt and costs $30 by February 10 or $40 on the day of the run. The Kid’s Dash is free but youth t-shirts are $10. Family nutrition dinner

Take a night off and have dinner with PCC. We’ll learn about and enjoy the wonders of fresh food as we cook a simple, easy meal with a PCC nutrition educator.

Participants will share a family-style meal together and leave with new ideas, recipes and confidence to feed their family at home. Free for families; kids 5 to 12 years old welcome.

Spice up your life this winter by learning new recipes, refreshing old standbys, or cooking a cuisine you’ve never tried before. “Lebanese Cuisine,” “Successful Sauces” or “Italian Merenda: Afternoon Treats” would do that for you.

If you’re living gluten-free, you have more class choices than ever. Learn how to make gluten-free pasta, Moroccan classics or Japanese dumplings. Vegans will enjoy a wide variety of topics, too, such as “Vegan Patisserie,” “The Accidental Vegan,” “Family Vegan Cooking” and more.

Kids will have fun making Mexican food, wraps from around the world, homemade fresh pasta and much more in hands-on classes geared toward their age group.
