Access for blind shoppers
PCC is pleased to announce that our Columbia City store is now an Aira Access Location, providing the blind and low-vision community free access to Aira while shopping.
Aira connects people who are blind or low-vision to a trained professional agent dedicated to further enhancing their everyday experience — providing real-time assistance at the touch of a button. With Aira, visual information is relayed from a smartphone or smart glasses to Aira’s professionally trained agents who walk the user through real-time activities, such as shopping. 17th annual Polar Bear Plunge
Tuesday, January 1
Registration begins at 10 a.m.
Matthews Beach Park, entrance on the corner of N.E. 93rd St. and Sand Point Way N.E., Seattle
Start the new year with a splash! Join Seattle Parks and Recreation and the Meadowbrook Community Center Advisory Council for the 17th annual Polar Bear Plunge at noon on the first day of 2019. Registration for this free event opens at 10 a.m. and the plunge will occur at noon sharp.
PCC View Ridge is supporting the Polar Bear Plunge by donating hot beverages and snacks for participants!
Did you know? The Polar Bear Plunge at Matthew’s Beach was the first official event of its kind in the Seattle area, inspiring others throughout the region.
Salmon in the City
Thursday, January 24, 4 to 7 p.m.

Join Salmon-Safe’s annual event to highlight “innovations in ecologically sustainable urban design and development that protect water quality and our urban watershed.” Hosted by REI, this event will highlight groundbreaking research in urban stormwater by NOAA Fisheries. Free and open to all ages.

Honeybee Habitat Restoration
Saturday, January 26, 6 to 10 p.m.
Brightwater Center, 22505 Washington 9, Woodinville
Join NW Honeybee Habitat Restoration’s annual “Bees and Blooms” fundraiser for an evening of hors d’oeuvres, mead, local wine, open bar and silent auction. This nonprofit’s mission is to save threatened honeybees through local habitat restoration, hive relocation, and public education. PCC Edmonds is donating auction prizes to this event, so make sure to get your tickets for this fun and tasty evening before they sell out!

Gage Young
Cashier, Bothell PCC
Gage started out as a courtesy clerk at PCC Bothell several months ago. He has a genuine, can-do attitude toward every aspect of work. He also is extremely caring toward his co-workers and goes above and beyond on every project he’s given. Gage was promoted quickly to a cashier, where his service skills shine. Gage has great energy and the way that he engages with our customers is easy and natural. He makes our customers comfortable and they appreciate the sincere and calm tone that Gage helps set. Gage has years of customer service experience, working at his family’s pizza restaurant. He says that the community and culture we’ve built with our Bothell PCC staff feels like working with family!
