Improving Sustainable Farm and Field Act

January 27, 2020

PCC submitted comments to WA State Representative Sharon Shewmake on the Sustainable Farm and Field Act (SF&F), supporting the legislation but also encouraging additional amendments to strengthen and improve the bill.

The SF&F was proposed initially to the Washington State legislature in 2019 and PCC worked closely with stakeholders to develop the bill. While we supported the spirit of the legislation and recognize its potential to provide necessary funding for projects across the state to improve and incentivize carbon sequestration on agricultural lands, we also believe the legislation would benefit from better integration of existing organic and soil health focused programs and frameworks.
