Chatterbox for September

Summer days are drifting away so it’s a great time to reflect on what we were doing, thinking about and, most importantly, eating during these gorgeous sunny months. And by the looks of it, we had a lot of fun! Here’s a sampling of what was hot this summer on PCC’s website.
The PCC Deli Emerald City Salad is always a favorite recipe on our website. One of our Facebook fans likes “adding toasted pumpkin seeds or a little feta for a new take.”
The Wild Salmon Banh Mi Sandwich video from a June Gardening with Ciscoe cooking segment was a big hit. PCC Chef and recipe creator Lynne Vea “cannot get enough of these marvelous sandwiches. Sweet-tart, savory, spicy, cool, crunchy … they have it all.”
We were determined to enjoy the outdoors and the “Top 10 allergy remedies” feature made sure of it. The article featured helpful natural products from Boiron, Natural Factors and Oregon’s Wild Harvest.
We screamed for the “Favorite ice creams” feature in Sound Consumer, which profiled Three Twins Ice Cream, Snoqualmie Ice Cream and Larry and Luna’s Coconut Bliss to name a few.
Small bites
PCC grocery staff toured the Earth Friendly Products factory in Lacey, Wash. The staff shared a short video with PCC’s Facebook followers about what they learned on their journey; expect a more in-depth video of this producer in the fall.

Our “Taste of summer — recipes, grilling tips and more” board generated great buzz. Some of the favorite and most pinned recipes included a Fresh Summer Fruit Trifle, Fresh Berry Tarts with Vanilla Sugar, and a Summer Berry and Crystallized Ginger Topping for Ice Cream. We’re sensing a sweet little trend here…
