Wonderful watermelon

Local, organic, thirst-quenching watermelons from Inaba Farms in Yakima, Wash., have arrived in our stores and they’re as juicy as ever. In addition to vitamin C and vitamin A, watermelon offers a powerful dose of lycopene, an antioxidant that supports cardiovascular health.

To choose a ripe watermelon, look for the spot where it sat on the ground; if the spot is yellow, it means the melon ripened on the vine longer. If the spot is white, the melon won’t be as ripe.

Get additional tips on how to select perfectly ripe watermelons by watching our video. And once you’ve enjoyed several slices out of hand, try our recipe for Watermelon Salad with Tomatoes, Feta and Pistachio or make a Sparkling Rosé Melon Cooler with Lavender.

Fruit-filled delights

Enjoy the season’s best fruit with French-inspired pastries from the PCC Bakery. Featuring a flaky oatmeal crust, our galettes can serve up to four and are filled with a thin layer of almond cream that is topped with juicy stone fruit, including peaches and plums.

Our fresh fruit tarts have a three-inch buttery shell on the bottom and are filled with vanilla pastry cream. Each is topped with fresh, seasonal, organic fruit, such as strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, for a tasty individual treat.
