Spicy dishes for hot days

Throughout the world’s warmest regions, you’ll find spicy foods that truly bring the heat, from curries to chilies. There may be a science to this phenomenon, as eating hot foods on a sweltering summer’s day can help you cool off. Whether or not you believe this to be true, here are five tasty dishes in the PCC Deli that promise to bring the heat.
Spicy Tofu and Spelt
Organic tofu is slow-cooked in a spicy soy-cayenne sauce and then mixed with plump, chewy spelt berries and fresh-cut veggies, including red bell peppers, red cabbage, carrots, green onions and parsley in this hearty, satisfying grain salad.

Thinly sliced roast beef made in-house is tossed in a sweet and spicy jalapeño dressing and garnished with red bell peppers and cilantro. Eat all on its own or enjoy on a bed of lettuce with a side of rice.

This cruciferous veggie is oven-blackened in Cajun seasonings for a spicy side that is an excellent accompaniment to grilled seafood, such as white fish or prawns.
