Ames Creek Challenge Grant update
We’d like to share with you the overwhelming success of our Ames Creek Challenge Grant. Our goal was to raise $40,000 by November 1 in order to take advantage of a challenge grant from a group of generous supporters. We asked for your support and you responded.
We not only made our $40,000 goal but surpassed it. Including the matching grant, we raised $81,000. As a result, we’re able to pay off our Ames Creek Farm loan and are continuing full speed ahead to save the next farm.
We thank all our donors and extend congratulations on this collaborative effort. Together we’re securing, preserving and stewarding threatened farmland in the Northwest.
‘Tis the season
For many of us, the end of the year traditionally is a time to give. It’s also a time to honor the people and beliefs that we hold close — such as treating the land with reverence and supporting organic farmers who endure weather and hardship to grace our tables with food.
This holiday, instead of giving more things to friends and family, consider giving the satisfaction of saving organic farmland.
If you’d like to give on behalf of a friend or family member, specify that on the donation form. Your loved one will receive a card announcing the gift to the PCC Farmland Trust. As always, your donation is 100 percent tax deductible.
December also is a great opportunity for you to make another tax-deductible donation for 2007, rounding out your year of generosity.

Delta Farm tour and celebration
Please join us for the next PCC Farmland Trust event, “Farming in the Winter,” on Saturday, January 19 at the Delta Farm in Sequim. We’re planning on a full day of farm fun.
Owner/operator Nash Huber will show us the ins and outs of winter vegetable production and the unique microclimate on the Olympic Peninsula. Also, enjoy a farm-fresh supper, music from a local acoustic blues band, and a discussion about “Food from Everywhere and Nowhere” with Dr. Curtis Beus of Washington State University Extension Services.
